Trendy Tot Thursday (27/11/2014)

I’ve struggled with our Trendy Tot Thursday this week. Biscuit and Cracker have been poorly and not able to do anything, especially pose for Mama’s pictures! So this week there’s nothing exciting, it was all about comfort and ease of washing (snotty, sneezy children make for a lot of washing)!

Cracker is wearing a Mountain Warehouse t-shirt that my parents bought him on holiday. It’s that lovely material that keeps you cool and is really fast drying. With his temperature being all over the place, this t-shirt is a good layer for him. We’ve teamed it with some super-comfy Mini Club at Boots jogging bottoms. These are so useful and versatile we have them in three different colours!

Biscuit has been really floored by this illness and has only wanted to sit and cuddle. She is wearing a lovely red t-shirt by Florence and Fred by Tesco and a pair of jeggings by Mini Club at Boots. The jeggings are a little short in the leg as they are 12-18 months, but these are the only size that fit her waist (does anyone else have this same issue?). They are good for round the house, stretchy enough to be comfortable and not restrict movement, but she can’t wear them out anymore! Maybe for Summer days when she could be in cropped trousers?!?!

After a hard week wiping noses, drying tears and administering lots of paracetamol, it was lovely when they went to each other and had a kiss and cuddle!

What We Think of…. Mam Trainer Cups

We had been using Mam anti-colic bottles with Biscuit and Cracker from the time they were born, that’s what they took my expressed breast milk in. We chose these bottles as they were easy to clean, could be sterilised on their own (without the need for a steriliser, very handy for day trips to visit friends and family) and could grow with the twins (by changing the size of the bottle part and by changing the teat from slow, to medium, to fast flow and then to free flow spouts). I couldn’t fault them.
After 2 years near constant use however, the rubber valves were getting worn out and the free flowing spouts were looking a bit grotty too so we looked for a replacement. Biscuit and Cracker use sippy cups and sports bottles with absolutely no problem, for water, however Cracker refused to take milk from anything other than his Mam trainer bottle….. (boys, hey?!). This lead to a rather frantic search for another Mam product that Cracker would find acceptable (yes, I know, I am the adult yet I am pandering to a 2-year-old. Trust me, some battles AREN’T worth fighting with a toddler) and I found Mam Trainer Bottle, so we figured we’d give them a go.

The new 2014/15 designs are really bright and colourful and, as ever with Mam products, they are really sturdy and well made. I don’t like their new handles though, they are small and flat and the twins find it difficult to hold them.
Luckily we still have their old Mam handles, which (as you can see from the photos) are a much better shape for little hands, and they fit on to these new bottles.

Obviously nothing is simple with toddlers and Cracker refused to drink from the new Mam spouts (which are closed with two slits in for when they drink) and so we have had to get the least used, and cleanest, old Mam teats (which have a huge hole in them for free-flow drinking) for his bottle. Every time we gave him the new teats he complained that they “hurt” his mouth so then he refused to go anywhere near them, thank goodness his old ones fit!

Biscuit, however, took to her new bottle with the new teats straight away!
In conclusion, the bottles are pretty and well made, but I prefer the old-style handles and free-flow teats. I know they won’t use these for much longer, but I want them to be happy drinking their milk now!

*I did not receive these products for free, nor was I paid to write this post. I am just a Mama of toddler twinkles and we use a lot of stuff- I just wanted to share our experiences with you! I hope it helps.

Thank you for reading.

Trendy Tot Thursday (20/11/2014)

I know people may be wondering if I am feeling okay as my last #TT_Thursday did not contain anything from Slug and Snails at all! I have said it before, and I am sure I’ll say it again, but they sell fantastic kids clothes and I can’t sing their praises high enough.

As a Mama of twins I get to see a lot of clothes and Biscuit and Cracker test them to their limits of movement with their play and I see how they hold up to this and my washing. Slugs and Snails are comfortable, hard-wearing and are in eye-catching, funky designs. We have been a fan of their tights for quite a while now, and as soon as they brought out matching tops (yes, you read that right) I absolutely had to try them.

IMG_1805.JPG

They are absolutely perfect for a snuggly afternoon at home (as shown by a cuddly Biscuit here) and with the addition of a pair of denim shorts for Cracker and a denim dress for Biscuit (sorry no photos, I was out by myself and had my hands too full for the camera too) you have the most adorable outfits.

Slugs and Snails are always generous with their clothing sizes (Biscuit is in 18-24 month tights and Cracker is in 2-3 years) so the 3-4 year tops on them are pretty big but SO comfy.

Trendy Tot Thursday (13/11/2014)

This week our weather has been a bit grotty and unpredictable, to say the least, so the twins have spent a bit more time than usual staying in and playing in the flat. This, obviously, called for some lovely cosy, comfortable clothes.

IMG_1804.JPG

Biscuit and Cracker are in matching leggings and tops from Blade and Rose. If you’ve never heard of Blade and Rose then I recommend you go and check them out! They sell extremely cute children’s leggings with designs on the bottom (for even more cuteness factor), including Christmas pudding ones (that the twins had last year to meet Father Christmas), birthday numbers and funky designs like Biscuit’s bunny rabbit and Cracker’s dinosaur.

IMG_1803.JPG

They are really stretchy and don’t restrict movement at all. Biscuit and Cracker are able to run, jump, climb, squat and roll around (as toddlers do) without restriction. And just look at the lovely, vibrant colours too. These outfits always get comments when we go out.

IMG_1802.JPG

This is the first time we’ve had the co-ordinating tops to go with the leggings and they are lovely. However the are not generous on size- the both the leggings and the tops Biscuit and Cracker are wearing in the photos are age 3-4. The twins are 2 and Biscuit is really petite. I was expecting them to be a little roomier (that’s why I got the bigger size). The tops do fit the twins and are really good quality, but I am not sure how long they’ll last them. The leggings will stretch quite a lot so will last them a little longer I think.

As the weather is getting cooler, we use the Blade and Rose leggings as an added layer to an outfit, either over a pair of tights or under a pair of trousers. They are also a really handy spare outfit to pop in your nappy bag when out and about (a really important factor for a mama of twins who has to try to fit double the amount of spare clothes into an already full nappy bag!!).

Trendy Tot Thursday (06/11/2014)

Yay! It is finally cold! Biscuit and Cracker have had their winter jackets hanging in the wardrobe for ages and now, finally, we can get them out and get some use out of them!

IMG_1784.JPG
Absolutely ages ago Zulily had fantastic coat and trouser sets from Blanc de Blanc (I can’t find a website for them, if anyone knows of one please let me know as I’d love to get more of their stuff in the future). They are waterproof with a soft fleecy liner (and the sets came with a hat each, as modelled by Biscuit) and are fantastic.

IMG_1791.JPG
For this trip out we didn’t need the trousers, but I can see when they would be useful and I kicked myself for not putting them on the twins in fireworks night! The coats kept them warm and cosy. Biscuit is wearing a wool dress from George Clothing at Asda. It is 12-18 months but is so generously sized that it is still good now, at 28 months. I teamed this with her autumn Slugs and Snails, bought from Itsy Bits (a lovely independent seller of all things pretty and perfect). Her Clarks boots seem to be permanently on her feet as it has been a bit too wet for trainers.

IMG_1790.JPG
Cracker is wearing his coat with a pair of jeans from Next which look really cool. The denim is really thick and I do worry about him being a bit cold in them (compared to thick tracksuit trousers for example), especially when they get wet. The slide was a little damp and the jeans stayed wet and cold for ages afterwards (next time he’ll be wearing a pair of Slugs and Snails underneath them to keep his legs warm)! His Clarks boots are also always on his feet, he has extremely wide feet and we struggle to find shoes so when we do he gets a lot of wear out of them.

I may be in the minority for saying this, but I hope the cooler weather is here to stay and Biscuit and Cracker can model the warm cosy clothes they have waiting for them. And just wait for the Christmas clothes to come out….. SO excited!
